You wake up in Jack's cellar. One lamp, one table, and a television that only gets channel 3. Jack sits across from you in the dinner jacket from the old commercial. He is very polite about all of it.

This is the free browser demo of KILL JACK, a horror blackjack roguelike. Play the first ante against him, take a charm from the house, play one hand of the second ante, and find out how he says goodbye.

The full game has six antes, thirty-five charms, a new house rule every ante, and his end: KILL JACK on itch.io (Windows and macOS).

HOW IT PLAYS

• Every chip on your side of the felt is one of your lives, and every chip on his side is one of his. Win a hand and he pays. Lose and you do.
• A tie goes to the shotgun. Two shells, one of them live, and you choose who goes first.
• Stake three chips at once and he lays the shotgun on the felt for that hand.
• If you take too long, he starts drumming his fingers on the table.

CONTROLS

• Mouse: look around and click. The mouse is locked into the game once you take a seat; Esc lets it go, a click takes it back.
• H hit, S stand, D double down, R surrender, Space or Enter to deal. Tab looks at the monitor.

NOTES

• Plays in a current Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer. Not made for phones.
• The first start takes a moment: about 100 MB to load, then the cellar is prepared behind a LOADING screen.
• Headphones recommended.

Jump scares (they can be switched off in the options), flashing lights, firearms, blood.
